Funds for such an upgrade will be credited for each defeated enemy unit. Therefore, your character must shoot irresistibly and leave irreparable gaps in the ranks of the attackers. Here's a good piece of advice: don't spend a long time saving up money for something very powerful, because until that moment you can lose the battle. It is better to acquire improvements after each victory day and gradually develop defensively.
